Grades 4-5
Earthquakes, tornados, spiders, dogs and the human eye are some of the topics being discussed in fourth grade. The fourth graders are busy with research (the library and the internet kind), index cards and project building. It is time to get ready for the Science Fair. The students are actively getting ready to present top quality science fair projects. "Why do we have to learn this?", is often was the question of the week in math class. GEOMETRY is the word in math. We learn all of the terms and formulas that will help us in our future endeavors.
Pat Galla - Math Teacher, Fourth Grade
In my classroom, students are busy mastering language arts skills, from reading and writing to spelling and grammar. The students experience language skills through reading a variety of literature in novels as well as their textbooks. We practice building new vocabulary, comprehension skills and study skills. Students enjoy displaying their creativity with various book projects such as dioramas and timelines. Writing is very important in the curriculum. We practice spelling and grammar with writing skills. The students write informally in class with journals, short essays, interesting paragraphs, as well as formal writing when we follow the five step writing process. Students work diligently in Room 204.
