Planting seeds for growth through play . . .

Word of God Preschool enrolls children who have turned three or four by September 1 of the school year.  Morning and afternoon sessions are available for four year old preschool three days a week.  Three year old preschool is limited to two morning sessions. Enrollment is limited to 15 children in each session for four year olds and 10 children for three year olds.  An aide assists the preschool teacher for each session.

The philosophy of the preschool is based on the belief that children learn through play, as individuals, in groups and through experiences that form a foundation for learning.

Emphasis is placed on social skills.  Children learn to play and cooperate with others in both large and small groups, as they also learn to interact with adults.  Basic Christian principals are presented according to developmental level of the children. Daily prayers are said or sung and activities  which reflect religious holidays are offered. Children are taught to accept and respect each other in a spirit of friendship.

The curriculum of the preschool is "theme-based."  Each month a new theme is presented, and developed by using children's ideas, artwork and experience stores. The theme is supplemented by activities that enhance all modalities of learning.

Four year preschool children begin kindergarten readiness activities after the Christmas holiday.

The school year begins the day after Labor Day and usually ends the weekend before Memorial Day. 

3 year preschool is offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

4 year morning preschool is offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

4 year afternoon preschool is offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Additionally, extended care is offered from 8:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 11:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
